Drowning remains the second leading cause of accidental death among children ages 1 – 14, and the CDC recommends formal swimming lessons as a way to reduce that risk. We here at the Valley Shore YMCA are determined to keep children safe and help them learn to enjoy water activities. That is why we are offering a full week of FREE water safety and swim lessons to any child ages 3-12 in our service area.
Our goal is to provide valuable lifesaving water safety and swim instruction to more than 200 children in our service area by offering four consecutive (40 min) swim lessons during the week between Christmas and New Year’s on Monday, December 27 through Thursday, December 30. This program is designed for children that have little or no experience with organized swim lessons.
