Group Swim Lessons at the YMCA focus on building strong confident swimmers using a skill based curriculum that allows students to flow easily from one skill to the next with clearly defined stages of progress. Learning starts with water acclimation and vital water safety skills and progresses to stroke development. We’re proud to offer a variety of swim lessons for people of all ages and abilities.
Classes are once a week for 30 minutes. Summer session 1 is 4 weeks long. Summer session 2 is 5 weeks long.
Price for members: Session 1: $56.00 Session 2: $70.00
Price for guests: Session 1: $88.00 Session 2: $110.00
We offer the following levels:
Parent & Child Swim Lessons: (Ages 6 month to 3 years)
With a parent in the pool, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through water exploration. Parents learn about water safety and drowning prevention.
Pre-School Swim Lessons: (Ages 3 to 5 years)
Swimmers learn safe water habits, underwater exploration, and basic strokes. Lessons are a mix of activities, games and drills.
Pre-School 1+2 Beginner: This level works on water acclimation and movement in the water. We work to increase comfort under the water, forward movement, and learn basic self rescue skills. Swimmers advance to intermediate once they can fully submerge to look at an object under water, roll from front to back, and swim 5 yards independently.
Pre-School 3+4 Intermediate: This level works on water stamina and stroke development. We work to increase distance in the water and introduce stroke technique for front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, and butterfly. Swimmers advance to our mini marlins once they can safely swim 50 yards using both freestyle and backstroke.
School Age Swim Lessons: (Ages 6 to 12 years old)
Swimmers learn water safety and basic swimming competency through activities, games and drills.
