As we update the pool we want to keep you informed! Please continue to visit this page for updates on our Pool Improvement Project.

We are fortunate to begin a large-scale capital improvement project of our pool to ensure that it is protected and able to continue to serve our community for years to come.
Monday, March 27th, 2023 the pool will close for the improvement project. Construction is anticipated to take between 4 weeks and once complete, the Y will have revitalized our beloved pool to allow us to continue to serve our community for another 20 plus years.
The capital improvement project includes:
• Abrasive (Sand) Blast all existing pool walls, floor, recessed ladders and steps to remove paint coatings.
• Repairs to any cracks, spalls, concrete voids, etc.
• Remove and replace the existing sealant and backer rod at the back of the gutter in the pool.
• Clean, passivate and polish all stainless-steel gutter surfaces, including inside of gutter channel.
• Remove and replace the submerged elastomeric sealant and backer rod at expansion joint at pool floor and walls.
• Apply two coats of epoxy paint, including race lines and wall targets.
Working with CT Water, it was determined that the end of March and the beginning of April is the ideal time to refill our pool with high quality, clean water, with fewer heavy minerals and irons after the work has been completed. The recent drought conditions we face during the summer months make it impossible to complete this work at that time.
Where Can I Swim?
During the time our pool in being worked on, we invite our members to utilize the YMCA’s Nationwide Membership at the Northern Middlesex YMCA in Middletown and/or the Soundview Family YMCA in Branford through the YMCA’s Nationwide Membership Program.
Thank you for your cooperation & understanding as we make these much needed facility improvements.
