RE: Changes in insurance plan memberships for 2022
Dear member:
Effective Jan 1, 2022, the Valley Shore YMCA will no longer be participating in the SilverSneakers program. We are committed to providing exceptional programming to active older adults in our community but must balance financial accessibility to those in need with financial sustainability for our organization. As we assess the current needs and aging demographics of our community, it has become apparent that we can no longer participate in this program.
While we are stopping our participation in this program, our commitment to seniors is unwavering. Our wide range of options includes: group exercise classes designed for active older adults, including Move For Better Balance, water aerobics, swimming, Delay the Disease for Parkinson’s disease, Hope is Power for Cancer Survivors, pickleball, and our forthcoming Cardiac Rehab program.
After years of fundraising in our community for new capital improvements, we are eagerly preparing for the opening of our new state-of-the-art Brady Wellness Center, renovated lobby, handicapped accessible family changing stalls, and many other improvements. These renovations will allow providing improved service to members of all ages and abilities and the best is yet to come! To clarify, 100% of the renovation funding came from private donors and the size and scope of our much-needed renovation project are not impacted by the membership fees.
Please know that this was not a decision we made lightly and that we are committed to offering membership options at deeply discounted rates for seniors to ensure you can seamlessly continue your YMCA membership. Please review the senior membership options and complete the necessary transition paperwork by Dec 31, 2021.
