Drowning remains the second leading cause of accidental death among children ages 1 – 14, and the CDC recommends formal swimming lessons as a way to reduce that risk. The Valley Shore YMCA, the Westbrook Foundation, and Dominion Energy are determined to keep children safe and help them learn to enjoy water activities. That is why we are offering a full session of FREE water safety and swim lessons to any child at Daisy Ingraham Elementary School.
Our goal is to ensure all children are ready for summer swimming. It is especially important this year that children participate in structured lessons before the summer to reclaim their endurance and muscle memory so they can safely enjoy family aquatic activities. You have three options:
- SPLASH Week: (4) Forty-minute lessons during the week of June 14-17. The perfect way to get ready for camp and summer vacation.
- Saturday Swim Lessons: (4) Forty-minute swim lessons on Saturday mornings beginning in July.
- Private Swim Lessons: (4) Forty-minute swim lessons throughout the summer coordinated based on your schedule and instructor available.
Registration:
Pick a lesson structure that works for you! We will test children on their first day and put them into appropriate levels. It’s that simple! The only caveat to this whole program is that you MUST register by 9:00 pm on June 1, 2021.
Space is limited to the first 100 participants, so please register today!
Cost: Absolutely Free
