Remote Learning Camp
The Valley Shore YMCA has served the Shoreline community for more than 100 years, during which we have gone through many challenging times together, none perhaps as impactful as COVID-19. As an organization dedicated to youth development, we know how important it is that our children have a safe and enriching environment for learning. With many of our local schools operating fully remote at this time, we are offering a remote learning camp for families who feel they need a safe place for their children at this time while they return to work.
IMPORTANT UPDATE AS OF 11/19/2020
We are offering the program at the Valley Shore YMCA only for all communities. Sign up today to reserve your spot. Space is limited.
- For campers entering K-6 in the fall of 2020
- Time: 8 am – 4 pm
- Extended care is not available
- Snack provided
- Located at the Valley Shore YMCA, 201 Spencer Plains Road, Westbrook
- Similar protocols from the summer will be in place to ensure the safety of both campers and staff, such as health screenings, and groups of 10 or less
- Campers will answer screening questions daily and have their temperature checked upon arrival.
- If there is any risk of exposure or signs of illness, children will not be eligible to attend
We will adapt our program to accommodate any online learning requirements by your school. Children will need to bring their own laptop or tablet with power cord. We will provide internet access.
Campers will be grouped with similar grades with a maximum of ten campers per group, as per state guidelines. Each will be considered as a family unit, doing all of their activities together and spending the entire day as a group. Each day one staff member will be assigned to each group and will spend the day guiding the group through their camp experience and will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing of program equipment between use.
The program will be based indoors though we will go outside as much as possible to play games, make crafts, and engage in other activities. Campers will have an opportunity to swim weekly. Activities will be selected based on the ability to practice social distancing and keep physical interactions between children to a minimum.
